What To Bring & Wear
CLOTHING
Memorable portraits take careful planning, and the clothing you choose is very important to your portrait’s success. These guidelines will help you to make important decisions about your portrait.
DO…
Arrive about 10 – 15 minutes early to avoid being
rushed.
Include some winter and summer outfits.
Get a good -night sleep.
Dress from head to toe, your shoes will show in some
poses.
Bring a variety of different style outfits.
DON’T….
Wear busy patterns, solid colors work best.
Change your hairstyle drastically before your session.
Have extreme tan lines, they are very noticeable in
photos. But can be removed
Eyeglasses are photographed best when the lenses are out. You may be able to borrow a set of frames from your optometrist.
Ladies... Long sleeve tops are preferred over short. Remember that the hairstyle that you have now will certainly be most pleasing. Watch out for drastic changes before being photographed. Makeup should be applied as if you were going out for the evening. Avoid frosted colors and body glitters. Apply two coats of mascara. Natural tones look best. Bring a compact and lipstick for minor touch-ups. Nails should be manicured to your liking.
Guys… A coat and tie work best for traditional poses. Be sure to wear dress pants and dress shoes too. All other poses look good in either formal or casual outfits. For best results have your hair cut a week before your appointment. Remember to shave.
